What To Expect From What's Next

In the first meeting, client and coach explore the request for coaching.  The coach will follow this meeting with a proposal.  Upon accepting the proposal, there are one or two meetings for assessment and development of coaching objectives.  What is most important is that both coach and client are on the same page in the work the client is trying to accomplish.  Coaching programs are often three to six months duration, though that will vary by client.

Every client is different, and every coaching program is uniquely designed for each client.  However, prospective clients may find it helpful to hear from a former client.  Click here to read "An Interview with a Client."

The following are examples of What's Next coaching requests and client results:

A 27 year old woman requested help finding work that renewed her enthusiasm and spirit, and utilized her intelligence and creativity in her work.

Result:  She used the coaching process to grow in personal ways, for example, by finding strategies to calm her stress, establishing deeper friendships and developing a closer relationship with her family.  She changed her lifestyle to include more physical & creative activities.  With her renewed energy and focus, her value and efforts at work were recognized and she was offered a promotion to a position with the creative responsibilities she desired.

A 33 year old man had lost interest in the niche his career had taken him.  He wanted to find stimulating work that he was good at.  He had hit a dead end in his job search and was thinking about returning to the career that had become stale for him.

Result:  After the coaching process helped him discover his unique talents, he found exciting and challenging work in a completely different industry using the experience, skills and unique talents he already had.

A 26 year old man sought career coaching after what he described as “burning out” in the food industry.  He had returned to live with his parents and wanted a career change.

Result:  He found a new creative direction and made the decision to attend a graduate program in the creative field he was passionate about – one that was practical in addition to providing him with artistic expression.

A 43 year old woman with three young children had a successful business that gave her no satisfaction.  She struggled with work / life balance.

Result:  After exploring work and life balance, and completing coaching exercises and practices, she found new ways to make decisions that worked for her at a deeper level.  She found renewed satisfaction in motherhood and identified ways to work that spoke to her beliefs, compassion for others and her sense of self-worth.
